It's been 20 years since Hinder's debut album “Extreme Behavior” was released on a major label, and we're still not sure the music industry has recovered. Rarely have commercial and critical success been so far apart; this album went THREE-TIME platinum and had four major hit singles (more if you count the international charts)?! Still, the criticism was relentless, with one reviewer commenting to Hinder, “They don't appeal to music fans, they appeal to fans of high fives.” Which is pretty funny ... but this Oklahoma City band laughed all the way to the bank when songs like “Get Stoned,” “Lips of an Angel” (No. 3 on the Hot 100), “How Long” and “Better Than Me” became worldwide hits. Part of this was due to the undeniable charisma of lead singer Austin John Winkler; producer Brian Howes also deserves credit for co-writing the songs. But a big part of Hinder's appeal (aside from the appealing cover art, which came straight from the cover of the book “How to Tell a Naked Man What to Do: Sex Advice from a Woman Who Knows”) was the band's carefree attitude. Fans of Jackass found their rollicking soundtrack here; Extreme Behavior is good, naughty fun. Remastered and pressed in blackberry vinyl by Mike Milchner of Sonic Vision for the first 20th anniversary vinyl reissue!
