Acclaimed blues-rock guitarist Anthony Gomes releases his 13th studio album High Voltage Blues via Rat Pak Records. High Voltage Blues is a compilation album that follows his successful 2020 album Containment Blues, which reached #1 on the Billboard charts, and features three new studio tracks, eleven newly recorded fan favorites, and guest appearances by legendary bassist Billy Sheehan, KoRn drummer Ray Luzier, renowned vocalist Bekka Bramlett, and The Voice™ contestant Wendy Moten.

"We had a lot of fun rocking these songs," says Anthony. "For me as an artist, it was great to go back to some of my earlier work and look at it from a different perspective. Billy and Ray really pushed the way I play guitar, and they added a whole new element, with a little bit of madness," he laughs. "When people ask me what I sound like, I say, 'If B.B. King was in AC/DC, that's what we're trying to capture.' It's high voltage blues in a nutshell."

From the storming rhythms of album opener Painted Horse to the heartbreaking classic Darkest Before The Dawn, it's clear that Anthony's signature blues guitar playing is the foundation for his latest solo effort. Produced by Peter Carson and mixed by Chris Collier, High Voltage Blues delivers all the power and punch one would expect from this top-notch blues artist.

Gomes' neue Platte Peace, Love & Loud Guitars, die von der Blues Rock Review und dem SoundGuardian Magazine zum besten Blues-Album des Jahres 2018 gekürt wurde, ist der Höhepunkt eines Lebens, in dem er die Blues-Traditionen ehrt und dabei nie seine eigene Identität aus den Augen verliert. "Mein Ziel ist es, den Blues frisch, aufregend und sogar gefährlich zu halten", sagt Gomes. "Ich will den Nervenkitzel zurückbringen, den langjährige Bluesmänner zu ihrer Zeit geschaffen haben. Gleichzeitig halte ich es für sehr wichtig, dass die Musik wächst und sich weiterentwickelt.

"Er ist mit Künstlern wie B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Heart, Sammy Hagar, .38 Special, Jonny Lang, Robert Cray und Kenny Wayne Shepherd aufgetreten. Gomes erinnerte sich an ein Gespräch, das er vor Jahren mit einer dieser Legenden geführt hatte. "B.B. King sagte mir, der Blues sei wie die Gesetze des Landes. Sie müssen an die Zeiten angepasst werden, in denen wir leben", sagte Gomes. "Als Künstler ist es sehr aufregend, daran zu denken, dass der Blues heute genauso bahnbrechend sein kann, wie er immer war.

"In der Überzeugung, dass Musik den menschlichen Geist inspirieren kann, gründete Anthony 2010 die Music Is the Medicine Foundation. Diese gemeinnützige Organisation hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, das Leben anderer durch die heilende Kraft der Musik zu verändern.

Anthony Gomes hat nichts mehr zu beweisen, während er seine ganze Leidenschaft auf dem Tisch liegen lässt.
