The very last performance of Golden Earring took place on Saturday night, November 16, 2019 in Rotterdam.

Coincidentally, this last performance was recorded by director Marcel De Vré (known for his documentaries for NTR Uur van de Wolf and his recording of the Golden Earring Five Zero show at Amsterdam's Ziggodome in 2015). He was asked to film the show and project the live footage onto the large video screen at the back of the stage.

Without the band knowing, De Vré recorded the footage and it ended up on the shelf. So, thankfully, there are fantastic images and sounds of a great performance - tragically, in retrospect, Golden Earring's very last concert ever. This historic release is the smoking gun.

When guitarist / vocalist and co-founder of the band George Kooymans announces in February 2021 that he can no longer perform for health reasons, it means the abrupt end of Golden Earring after sixty years. As well as the fact that the group would never perform on stage again. Time to take the recordings of the Ahoy concert off the shelf. Working closely with the band, the material was edited by Marcel de Vré, while the sound recordings were mixed by John Sonneveld - Golden Earring's trusty technical hand for over thirty years.

The artwork - the brainchild of Barry Hay - consists of a replica of the original concert poster, but also includes a collage of photos sent in by Golden Earring fans over the past year. The result is the double CD/DVD entitled You Know We Love You! - Live Ahoy 2019. A worthy farewell that the band and the fans have more than earned.
