Soon after he began working for Big Mama Thornton, and Bobby 'Blue' Bland before he moved to NYC. There he became a much-in-demand session player. For most of the 1970s he was a member of the famous Crusaders. Today, Roy Gaines is one of the greatest urban electric blues guitar players and singers.
