1964 in Chicago gegründete Gruppe, die 1969 mit Gitarrist Fred Glickstein, Geiger Jerry Goodman, Bassist Jerry Smith, den Saxophonisten Tom Webb und Rick Canoff, dem Trompeter Frank Posa und dem Schlagzeuger Ron Karpman eine der besten und progressivsten Gruppen der Welt war. Vor allem der klassich aus- gebildete Geiger Jerry Goodman fand lobende Beachtung durch seinen Stil, der Klassik, Rock und Free Jazz zu einer neuen, bis dahin ungewöhnlichen Musikrichtung mischte. 1971 ging Goodman, schloß sich John McLaughlin und seinem Mahavishnu Orchestra an und arbeitete an Soloprojekten. Die Gruppe brach auseinander, fand keine neue Plattenfirma und wechselte häufig die Mitglieder. Bassist und Sänger Jerry Smith versuchte zwar alles, um sein Ensemble zusammenzuhalten, war dabei jedoch wenig erfolgreich. So trat die Gruppe 1974 während einer Deutschland-Tournee in der Provinz, in Dorfgasthöfen auf. Erst Mitte 1975 gab es einen neuen Anfang. Produzent Felix Pappalardi (Cream, Mountain) nahm sich der Gruppe an, verschaffte ihr einen neuen Plattenvertrag. lm Augenblick spielen Flock in dieser Besetzung: Bassist Jerry Smith, Gitarrist und Sänger Fred Glickstein, Pianist und Synthesizerspieler James Leslie Hirsen, Schlagzeuger Ron Karpman und Geiger Mike Zydowsky.
