The classic album by the pioneers of female rock, often referred to as the original “godmothers of chick rock” – “Rock and Roll Survivors” – was released in 1974 by Casablanca Records and was to be the band's last album.
Fanny's importance to the history of rock music cannot be underestimated. Their skill, creativity, success, and reputation in this field were unparalleled.
This album was created with an exciting new lineup, selected by Nickey Barclay and Jean Millington, including Brie Howard and Suzi Quatro's sister Patti.
Patti Quatro is one of the first recognized pioneers of female rock and released some of the first recordings by all-female bands on major labels starting in 1964.
This expanded and remastered deluxe edition was supervised by band member and guitarist Patti Ericson and includes the complete original 1974 album, remixed and remastered, as well as a previously unreleased live opera performed on the 1974 US tour.
Fans can also look forward to exclusive bonus tracks: Fanny's live cover versions of classics by Holland & Dozier, Ike Turner, and Lennon & McCartney, recorded at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go on New Year's Eve 1974. These very special, previously unreleased live recordings were made during the new band lineup's first public appearance at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go, after only two weeks of rehearsals.
The album contains all the original tracks from the album, remixed and remastered for 2025, and features the original artwork, which has been updated and expanded for this deluxe reissue. The CD booklet also includes updated liner notes by Patti Ericson.
One of the band's fans was David Bowie, who said in a 1999 interview with Billboard: “One of the most important women's bands in American rock has disappeared without a trace. And that's Fanny. They were one of the best... rock bands of their time, around 1973. They were extraordinary... they are as important as any other band that ever existed, only their time had not yet come.” Wise words, because interest in Fanny is growing and continuing worldwide.

Sogar Barbra Streisand begleiteten sie als Studiomusikerinnen bei Plattenaufnahmen. 1973 kriselte es in der Gruppe, im August stieg June Millington aus, dann folgte Alice de Buhr im Dezember, und im Dezember 1974 stieg auch noch Nickey .
