"The Equals"

Ende der 60erJahre vor allem in Deutschland sehr beliebte englische Rockgruppe. Von 1967 bis1971 brachten sie insgesamt 14 Songs in die deutschen Hitparaden, der erste war „l won't be there', der bekannteste „Baby come back', und der meistverkaufte „Rub a dub dub' (1970). Gegründet wurde sie von Sologitarrist Eddie Grant (geboren 5. 3.1948 in British Guayana - Afrika). Er ging zunächst nach London, bis er die Gruppe zusammen hatte, und wählte dann Deutschland als Sprungbrett. TV-Regisseur Mike Leckebusch lernte die Gruppe Anfang 1967 kennen, engagierte sie für den damaligen „Beat-Club' von Radio Bremen. Dadurch schafften die Equals in Deutschland den Sprung in die Hitparaden schneller als in England. Dort war ihr „Baby come back' erst1 Jahr später in den Hitparaden. Die Mitspieler waren damals: Sänger Dervin Gordon (geboren 29.1.1948 in Kingston - Jamaica), Gitarrist Lincoln Gordon (geboren 29.1.1948 in Kingston - Jamaica), Gitarrist Pat Lloyd (geboren 17. 3.1948 in ` Holloway - London) und Schlagzeuger John Hall (geboren 25.10.1948 in lslington - London). 1973 trennte sich die.
