Dave Edmunds: Tracks On Wax 4 (CD, Cut-Out)

(Swan Song) 11 tracks
Dave Edmunds – Tracks On Wax 4: 11 tracks with influences from classic rock ’n’ roll, rockabilly, and country rock. With “Trouble Boys,” “Never Been In Love,” “Deborah,” and “Heart Of The City,” the album offers a distinctive cross-section of Edmunds’ musical oeuvre. A great choice for fans of artisanal rock sounds and the Rockpile scene.

Dave Edmunds – *Tracks On Wax 4* is an 11-track album released in 1978 that showcases Dave Edmunds as a singer, guitarist, and producer. The album was released on Swan Song and blends rock ’n’ roll, rockabilly, and country rock. The album opens with “Trouble Boys,” “Never Been In Love,” “Not A Woman, Not A Child,” “Television,” “What Looks Best On You,” and “Readers’ Wives”—a varied mix of original compositions and covers. The second half features “Deborah,” “Thread Your Needle,” “A.1. On The Jukebox,” “It’s My Own Business,” and “Heart Of The City.” The lineup is particularly interesting from a musical standpoint: alongside Dave Edmunds, the album features Billy Bremner, Nick Lowe, and Terry Williams—the very musicians who also shaped the Rockpile scene. The album was produced by Dave Edmunds himself. For fans of classic rock ’n’ roll, rockabilly, roots rock, and the music of Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe, *Tracks On Wax 4* is an interesting release.

Dave Edmunds

Nach 2jähriger Pause gelang ihm ein Comeback mit weiteren Oldies: „Baby I love you" und „Born to be with you" waren Hits in England. Da er allerdings nur selten auf-tritt, sondern meist allein in seinem Rock-field-Studio arbeitet, gilt er nur in Musiker-kreisen als Könner.

DAVE EDMUNDS

Singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist born in Cardiff, Wales in 1944. He formed Love Sculpture in 1967 and the rockabilly band Rockpile in 1976. He enjoyed a No.1 UK hit in 1971 with his version of 'I Hear You Knocking' and went on to produce Shakin' Stevens, Brinsley Schwarz, the Stray Cats and Dion amongst others. In the '70s, he always included at least one Berry song or soundalike on his albums. Pity he didn't record a Berry tribute album, since he obviously thinks of Berry as the Father of Rock'n'Roll.
