The Earls: Remember Rome - The Early Years (LP)
This album represents the early recordings of Larry Chance and The Earls while they were on the Rome Record Label. The group’s talent was present from the start, but national recognition would elude the Earls for the first two years of their career. There were some local hits between 1960-62, especially the New York Classic “Life is But a Dream”, but it wasn’t until the end of 1962 - when they moved to Hy Weiss’, “Old Town Label” f that they achieved the national fame they deserved with such hits as “Remember Then" and “Never”.
Many of these early Rome recordings have never been released before and come from Demos’ and Master Tapes. On some of the familiar recordings, alternate takes and studio chatting have been included to help increase the rarity of the material within. It gives me great pleasure to share with you one of the most popular groups in the history of Rock and Roll, and one of the finest lead singers in the business, Larry Chance and The Earls.
Sincerely
ED ENCEL — Crystal Ball Records

THE EARLS
The Earls. one of the last of Allen's groups to record, is the most modern of the groups. "Meet Me After School" sounds very much like what the El Dorados might have been putting out "I Love You So" is a ballad in which the group sings with elan and vigor. The Earls recorded these sides at an Arbee Stidham session in July 1957, which featured the Lefty Bates band.
