Like the first singles (“Confetti Shotgun” & “Quiet”), “Tainted” also combines DeLange's country roots with contemporary pop and indie rock, but above all the Dutchwoman sets the pace right from the start: in search of herself, she falls in love in the very first verse, only to recognize cracks in this love happiness a little later. “I got a tainted heart”, her heart is tainted when she can't grasp his “concept of forever”. As the lushly produced arrangement comes across so powerfully, she can finally turn her disappointment into new courage - and look confidently to the future by the epic finale at the latest.

“I'm incredibly proud of this song,” comments DeLange. “It started out as a very small acoustic idea. And I never thought it would sound so epic afterwards. We've already played the single live - and it really went off! I LOVE IT!”

“How can something so beautiful go so wrong - that's a question we all ask ourselves from time to time. You think something can't break... only for it to break,” she continues about ‘Tainted’. The problem is often “individual truths” that can distort our whole perception of the situation. After the catastrophe, you need “some time to gather yourself again.
