In December 1986, Paul Daigle / Robert Elkins and Cajun Gold were voted the top Cajun Band of the year by readers of Times of Acadiana, a Lafayette publication with over 40,000 readers. Two months later they received an award for Cajun Song of the Year "J'Aime Mieux T'Avoir Perdu" at a ceremony in Port Arthur, Tx. From 1985 thru 1990 this group was the most requested on Cajun radio programs and the hottest at the nightclub and restaurant circuits as well as festival performances. Then at the height of their success, the band suffered "burn-out" and went into a remission period, some members appearing only now and then with other groups, and an occassional "reunion" booking.
