As a founding member of the Stax house band Booker T. & The M.G.s, Steve Cropper was a musician, songwriter and producer on some of the most important music of the 1960s. In the decade that followed, he met a new fan base as guitarist for the Blues Brothers, appearing on their records as well as in film. A two-time Grammy® winner and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cropper remains an integral part of American music today, writing, playing and producing into the 21st century.

In 1969, Cropper released his first solo album. His backing band? While there is no record of who played on the album itself, the liner notes by Grammy® winner Robert Gordon point to his M.G. colleagues, Buddy Miles, Jim Keltner, James Alexander of The Bar-Kay and others as candidates. The eleven core tracks now appear on an all-analog cut, re-pressed LP as "With A Little Help From My Friends" for a new generation. The CD version features eight bonus tracks, including four tracks not included on the original release and alternate versions of four tracks included on the original release. Together with Robert Gordon's annotations, this release is not only a history lesson, but also a timepiece for pure musical magic.
