Papa John Creach

John Henry Creach (28. Mai 1917 - 22. Februar 1994), besser bekannt als Papa John Creach, war ein amerikanischer Bluesviolinist, der auch Klassik, Jazz, Be-Bop, R&B, Pop und Acid Rock gespielt hat. Zu Beginn seiner Karriere trat er als Geselle mit Größen wie Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Stuff Smith, Charlie Christian, Big Joe Turner, T-Bone Walker, Nat King Cole und Roy Milton auf.

Nach seiner Wiederentdeckung durch den Schlagzeuger Joey Covington im Jahr 1967 spielte er bei verschiedenen Bands (u.a. Zulu und Midnight Sun), außerdem bei Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship, Jefferson Starship - The Next Generation, den San Francisco All-Stars (1979-1984), The Dinosaurs (1982-1989) und Steve Taylor.

Creach nahm eine Reihe von Soloalben auf und gastierte bei mehreren Konzerten der Grateful Dead und Charlie Daniels Band. Er war ein regelmäßiger Gast bei den frühen jährlichen Volunteer Jams, die von Charlie Daniels veranstaltet wurden und die ihn einem neuen Publikum vorstellten, das für Geigenspieler empfänglich war.
