For more than thirty years, Kevin Connolly has been writing and performing his own American songs and has earned a reputation as a passionate performer.

Connolly has toured extensively throughout the US and Europe, never losing sight of his New England roots. Kevin Connolly is a solo artist in the college and coffeehouse circuit and has also performed at major festivals such as Newport Folk, SXSW, Kerrville Folk and Bumbershoot. Kevin's songs can be heard on television shows and in major motion pictures as well as independent films.

He has recorded a dozen albums to date and the "Violins Sirens" recordings date back to the early nineties, but the resulting album is only making its CD debut now, in mid-2023, when two Italian enthusiasts decided to embark on a rescue mission for this gem. Originally, it was released on cassette in a very limited number to be sold at concerts. So it remained criminally undervalued and sat in the vaults for decades.

Kevin has this to say about the album: 'Violin Sirens' (The Lost Cassette) is a "live in the studio" recording made on a snowy day more than thirty years ago. I had just returned from Italy and was a little lost. I was waitressing in Harvard Square and preparing for a multi-year solo tour, so I had leftovers in the form of "band" songs. And I had a band full of giants: the late Steven Paul Perry on guitar (just back from a tour with John Hiatt), Frank Corby on drums, Tom Sheppard on bass and Jim Fitting on blues harp. We didn't practice much and didn't do any overdubs. Ducky Carlisle recorded the whole thing in a rat-infested band rehearsal room next to Fenway Park. We went live to ½-inch tape, to DAT, then to cassette (for sale). Yes, cassettes. When a friend gave us a very old car (with a cassette deck), I listened to those songs very loudly for a good part of the summer! So... Decades later, the time has come to bring these old recordings to CD and, of course, digital platforms. No vinyl though ... and ... no cassette! - Have fun!
