The duo was formed in 2008 after years of playing in different bands. Chris Tapp and Brian Mullins just wanted to jam together and that's how it all began. No one had set out to play a particular style of music for the joint project, the aim was to make it as natural as possible.

The result is a sonically and emotionally heavy rock that is based on stories and comes deep from the soul. Chris' unique guitar riffs and Brian's gigantic bass drum provide a visual and sonic landscape not found in other bands. With this live sound, it feels like there should be someone else on stage, but it's really just the two of them. Their success comes from hard work and perseverance. No matter if: Booking, promotion, recording or merchandise design, they both try to keep everything under one roof.

The Cold Stares have played venues such as Pianos in New York and The Viper Room in Hollywood. They have also played festivals such as The Ride, Copperhead, Handy Bluesfest and together with artists such as Rival Sons, Big Head Todd, Spoon and many more. Their new album "Head Bent" is set to build on the success of their first two albums and will be released on Small Stone Records.
