With “Let's Play Around,” the Berlin quintet presented a genre debut in 2006 that was of a class rarely seen in this country. The extremely authentic-sounding songs seem to fly straight in from the 40s and 50s, and the cool, lively sound with double bass, guitars, drums, and saxophone moves with somnambulistic certainty between early rhythm & blues and jive to rock ‘n’ roll sounds.
Eleven of the 15 songs are original compositions, and the band's performance skills are legendary both live and in the studio. It's no surprise that the band is still in demand as a backing act for genre legends and also played on Ruby Ann's successful album “Mama's Back.” “Lets Play Around” was a milestone for the authentic scene in 2006 and has only been surpassed, if at all, by its successor albums. Produced in the fully analog Lightning Recorders studio in Berlin.
