Released in January 1963 on Vault Records, "Surfbeat" was one of the very first surf albums to hit American stores. A compendium of the early surf sound, this record traces the history of the genre and lays the roots upon which the Southern California scene would grow. With excellent takes on rock 'n' roll classics like "Red River Rock" and a nod to "Surfin' Safari" by Dick Dale and the Beach Boys, this is not only an essential and important surf album, but also one of the most exciting.
