Jake Calypso is best known as a rockabilly singer.
With 2 of his 'Red Hot' musicians - Ben D. Driver and Thierry Sellier - Jake decides to form the 'JAKE CALYPSO TRIO' in 2023. They record this first 4-track EP in anticipation of an album to be recorded at Studio Sun in Memphis in April 2024.
OH YEAH" is a blues bopper in the tradition of Slim Harpo and Dr. Ross, written in memory of Didier Baigneaux, a big fan of this pre-rock'n'roll music.
HEART ATTACK BLUES' & 'SLAMMIN' DOOR BLUES' are real life stories set to the sound of the incisive Kay guitar swinging to the shuffle, just like in
Memphis in 1953. 'PLEASE COMEBACK ANOTHER DAY' draws inspiration from other songs like 'Big Boss'.
inspiration from other songs such as 'Big Boss Man' or 'Hi-Heel Sneekers'.
All songs were recorded and mixed at SHACK SOUND STUDIO with the help of Calypso Darras, Jake's granddaughter.
