geb. 7. 7. 1917 in Marshall - Arkansas gest. 23. 6. 1972 Record Labels: RCA, Decca, ABC, Paramount, Ampar, ARC, Varsity Größter Hit: There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere (1942) James Britt Baker, genannt Elton Britt, erlernte während seiner Schulzeit das Gitarrenspiel, trat im Alter von 14 Jahren mit den Beverly Hillbillies bei der Radiostation KMPC in Los Angeles auf, machte sich selbständig und wurde rasch ein sogenannter „Champion Yodeler“. In den 30er Jahren spielte er die ersten Schallplatten ein und 1942 schaffte er einen Millionseller mit dem patriotischen Song ,There`s A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere“. Es war Elton Bn`tt's größter Erfolg. Weitere bekannte Britt Hits hießen ,Chime Bells“, „Quicksilver“ und „Cannonball Yodel“. Außerdem produzierte Britt ein paar Duett-aufnahmen zusammen mit Rosalie Allen. 1968 feierte er dann noch einmal ein überraschendes Comeback mit dem Hit „Jimmie Rodgers'Blues“. Elton Britt's Schallplattenkarriere wurde flankiert von zahlreichen Auftritten in Filmen und Fernsehshows.
