Few events in the still young year 2024 have moved German society as much as the death of football legend and sporting icon Franz Beckenbauer. "The Kaiser", as he is often called, went down in global football history as one of the greatest names, both as a player and later as a coach and official.

He won all the individual and collective honours and trophies, was named world footballer twice and became world champion with the German national team both as a player and as a coach. After his coaching career, he took on the role of President and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FC Bayern and was later made Honorary President. To this day, he is considered one of the most influential figures in the sport and is often referred to as the "shining light of German football".
It was therefore hardly surprising, but all the more touching, that there was worldwide mourning and sympathy when "Kaiser Franz" passed away on 7 January 2024 at the age of 78 as a result of his long illness.

In view of his extraordinarily successful career, it is not only his achievements and successes on the pitch or his influence as a functionary that are unforgotten, but Franz Beckenbauer also left his mark on the German cultural landscape in the field of music.

As early as 1966, he tried his hand at singing and recorded a record entitled "Gute Freunde kann niemand trennen" (No one can separate good friends). The song became a cult classic and is still played whenever he is mentioned today. The single reached number 31 in the German charts at the end of 1966.

In addition to this song, there were other titles that Beckenbauer recorded and released over the years via the legendary record label Polydor. Today, these are considered rarities and are therefore hardly available to the general fan. This is now set to change.

Let's jump back in time to the present, because not only is it the year of farewell and mourning for the great loss of a legend, it is also the year of the European Championships and the venue for the 2024 European Championships is Germany, of all places, the Kaiser's homeland.
All of these circumstances add up to a veritable call for a new edition of Franz Beckenbauer's greatest hits, or rather: The Kaiser's most beautiful songs. This is also the official title of the new 10' vinyl, which contains all the old tracks from the collaboration with the Polydor label and will be released just in time for the football highlight of the year.
