New box set with previously unreleased live performances of the supergroup around Jeff Beck, Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice

In memory of Jeff Beck, who would have celebrated his 79th birthday on June 24, 2023, ATCO/Rhino announces the release of the new BBA box set "Live In Japan 1973, Live In London 1974." The collection will be available on September 15 on 4 CDs and 4 LPs.

All three band members were involved in the creation of "Live In Japan 1973" and "Live In London 1974," but the collection is especially dedicated to Beck and Bogert, who passed away in 2023 and 2021, respectively. The set includes an extensive booklet with detailed liner notes about the band's history by music journalist/manager Bruce Pilato, plus memorabilia, archival photos and a poster reprint.

Beck and Appice mixed all the concerts in this set from the original multitrack tapes that had been stored in Beck's archives for nearly 50 years.

In the booklet, Pilato addresses, among other things, the fact that Beck, Bogert & Appice left a lasting legacy despite their short lifespans. Thus Melody Maker saw the supergroup as "the first successors to Cream", the NME spoke of an "ensemble of almost unparalleled magnificence".

"Live In Japan 1973" was recorded by Beck, Bogert & Appice just weeks after the release of their self-titled debut. The music bristles with raw energy and holds exhilarating live versions of nearly every song on the album, including "Superstition," "Lady" and "Livin' Alone." The trio also performed songs by the Yardbirds ("Jeff's Boogie") and the Jeff Beck Group ("Morning Dew" and "Going Down").

The concert on "Live In London 1974" was recorded eight months after the shows in Japan, and thus shortly before the trio broke up. The setlist included several songs that BBA planned to record for their second studio album, which never came to be - including "Satisfied", "Jizz Wizz" and "Solid Lifter".
