Will Barnes was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. He bought his first guitar with the money he made picking cotton. He started his recording career in 1975. These were the hey days of outlaw music. His records from those days are real collector's items. Now they are reissued on Bear Family Records. The CD is straight out of the Outlaw tradition.

WILL BARNES

Ich bin in Wichita Falls, Texas geboren und aufgewachsen. Ich muss meiner Mama vor allem dafür danken, dass sie mich über hundert Jahre lang am Leben erhalten hat. Danke, Mom.
Ich kaufte meine erste Gitarre mit dem Geld, das ich in einem Baumwollfeld auf der Farm meines Onkels in West Texas verdiente. Dank Sears & Roebuck.

Mein erster bezahlter Job mit der Gitarre war'65 in einem Wichita Falls Tanzsaal, Poolraum, Bierstube für $1,53. Danke, Doris.

Das erste Mal sang ich meine eigenen Lieder viel später in einem Pub in Dallas. Ich wurde fast getötet. Ich hatte eine beträchtliche Menge Bier auf den Kopf eines Mannes und seiner Frau mit Blechohren geleert. Er hat mir das Leben gerettet, indem er mich nicht getötet hat. Danke Earl.

Das erste Mal, dass ich eine Platte aufnahm, war in'75. Ich habe in den 70er und 80er Jahren, in Studios und bei Live-Auftritten, vor allem im Texas Tea House" in Dallas während der großen, überfüllten und unvergesslichen Texas Outlaw Era Tage, einiges mehr aufgenommen.

Der Weg des Lebens scheint lang, bis man mehr davon weitergegeben hat, als man wollte, ohne dorthin zu gelangen, wo man dachte. Dieser Passagier will jeden Halt machen, jede Sehenswürdigkeit sehen und bis ans Ende der Strecke fahren. Ich bin nur eine Sammlung von Unvollkommenheiten in einer perfekten Welt, aber ich bin zu Hause in Texas.... mit texanischer Musik im Blut. Danke, dass du zugehört hast, als ich meine Seele in meinen Songs verschüttet habe.
