WILL BARNES
I was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas. I have to give credit mostly to my Mama for keeping me alive and out of trouble through over a hundred years of adolescene. Thanks, Mom.
I bought my first guitar with the money I made working in a cotton field on my uncle's farm in west Texas. Thanks Sears & Roebuck.
My first paying job with the guitar was in '65 in a Wichita Falls dance hall, pool room, beer joint for $1.53. Thanks Doris.
The first time I sang my own songs was much later in a Dallas pub. I almost got killed. I had emptied a considerable amount of beer on the head of a man and his tin-eared wife. He saved my life by not killing me. Thanks Earl.
The first time I recorded a record was in '75. I recorded quite a bit more through the '70s and '80s, in studios and while performing live, especially at `The Texas Tea House' in Dallas during its great, overcrowded, unforgettable Texas Outlaw Era days.
The road of life seems long, til you've passed down more of it than you wanted without getting where you thought you were going. This passenger wants to make every stop, see every sight, and ride it to the end of the line. I'm just a collection of imperfection in a perfect world, but I'm right at home in Texas ... with Texas music in my blood. Thanks for listening as I spill my soul in my songs.
