geb. 14.2. 1939 in Lafayette - Alabama Record Labels: RCA, MCA Erster Top-Ten-Hit: If Love Had A Face (1979) Erster No.1-Hit: Loving Up A Storm (1980) Razzy Bailey, der ehemalige Truckdriver und Versicherungsagent, war schon in jungen Jahren mit einer Band durch Clubs getingelt. Später begann er, Songs zu schreiben, und hatte damit auch großen Erfolg. Dickey Lee zum Beispiel hatte 1976 mit der Razzy-Bailey-Komposition ,9.999.999 Tears“ einen Top-Ten-Erfolg. Und da Dickey Lee damals bei RCA unter Vertrag war, kam der Komponist Razzy Bailey sozusagen durch die Hintertür in`s Studio und damit in Kontakt mit dieser Plattenfirma, die sich von seinen Qualitäten auch als Sänger überzeugte und ihn unter Vertrag nahm. Und Bailey war tatsächlich ein Volltreffer. Schon der erste Hit kam unter die Top Ten, und ein Jahr später schon folgte der erste Top-Erfolg. Dann jagte ein No.1-Hit den anderen. Bailey wurde ein Top-Star und blieb es auch bis 1983, doch dann wollte es nicht mehr so recht klappen. Razzy Bailey wechselte von RCA zur MCA, ohne jedoch bis jetzt an seine große Zeit anknüpfen zu können. Mit zu seinen schönsten Songs aus jüngerer Vergangenheit zählen „Rockin` In The Parking Lot“ und ,Old Blue Yodeler“.
