Do you have your ears open? This album collects Kay Adams' live studio recordings from the Buck Owens Ranch Show. Along with Tammy, Patsy and Loretta, Kay Adams was one of the first female country artists to pave the way for women in the genre. This gritty and bone-rattling country record is a real head-turner!

Most of the Ranch Show songs Adams didn't take from her regular repertoire were tunes Buck Owens had recorded at one time or another, including "We're Gonna Let the Good Times Roll," "Number One Heel," "Down, Down, Down" and "Loose Talk." But her performances at the Ranch Show reveal a singer as deserving of Bakersfield legend status as the head honcho himself. She is indomitable, inconsolable or incorrigible, depending on what the moment demands. And whatever emotion she conveys, she achieves a credibility on par with a pope on a polygraph. Adams' Ranch Show recordings are a great legacy in their own right.

When Adams launches into "Silver Threads and Golden Needles", the circle closes in more ways than one. "That was the first song I sang for Dave Stogner, and I used to sing it with my dad's band," she explains. That decisive note in her voice showed that she was still the country girl from Vernon who used to join in with her dad's gigs. But she was also the loud, proud woman who wasn't afraid to rock this song years before Linda Ronstadt tackled it.
