Lee ‘Shot’ Williams
Geboren 1938 in Lexington, Mississippi, ging Lee Ende der 1950er Jahre nach Chicago und begann seine Karriere als Sänger in den Bands von Little Smokey Smothers und Magic Sam. Seine erste Platte war für das kleine Label Foxy im Jahr 1962, aber er unterschrieb bei den viel größeren Federal Records im folgenden Jahr.
Er sang auch mit Earl Hooker's Band ab und zu in den 60er Jahren. 1966 unterschrieb er bei Palos Records und machte dann 1968 eine 45 für Gamma Records. Obwohl er keine großen Hits mit diesen Labels hatte, arbeitete er ständig auf der Straße und in Nachtclubs rund um Chicago. 1969 unterschrieb er bei Shamma Records und schlug mit I Like Your Style s/w I Hurt Myself and Get Some Order s/w Our Thing Is True. Beide waren starke Verkäufer und regionale Hits und wurden in Memphis im Hi Studio mit Willie Mitchell und Syl Johnson produziert. Im Jahr 1970 machte er ein One off 45 für Sussex Records und veröffentlichte ein ziemlich erfolgreiches Album auf dem viel größeren TK-Label von Ralph Bass.
Wie viele R&B-Künstler seiner Generation verlangsamte sich für ihn in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren die Entwicklung. 1995 veröffentlichte das niederländische Label Black Magic Records sein Comeback-Album'Cold Shot' mit großem Erfolg. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war er nach Memphis umgezogen und hat dort schon bald bei Ecko Records unterschrieben, wo er bis in die 90er Jahre auf dem südlichen'Soul Blues'-Markt erfolgreich war und nun für Charles Wilson's Wilson Label aufnimmt und sehr aktiv ist.
