Isolated in the 2,300-acre Sonic Ranch studio in the namesake town of Tornillo deep in the heart of their Texas home, just a few miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, they recorded twelve songs for the record in 21 days. Nine of them were penned by lead singer Cannon. The other three are credited to John Jeffers.
In an interview, Cannon announced a slightly different sound, but one that was still Whiskey Myers at its core: 'We used a lot of bass and horns, which we've always wanted to do. We're just fans of all the old music and Motown stuff, and a lot of what comes out of Muscle Shoals, old rock 'n' roll,' Cannon said.
