"Voodoo Mambosis And Other Tropical Diseases" is the beginning of a new series on Stag-O-Lee. Three volumes are planned. The original records are from the trove of our esteemed Duke Jens-O-Matic, a graphic artist, internationally acclaimed DJ, collector and hunter for decades. Even back when we first breathed life into Stag-O-Lee, Jens-O-Matic was there to deliver four volumes of the wonderful Jim Jam Gems 10" series.

Each one stylistically self-contained. Currently he is working on more Jim Jam Gems volumes, but has a hard time with the liner notes, because, "one has an educational mission!". Now to the present sound carrier: What does a friend of the obscure 7, if he already has everything in the area of Rhythm & Blues etc.? He looks for other fields of activity. Other countries, other music, other influences. So also our Jens-O-Matic.

He made a little trip around the world for Voodoo Mambosis, let his new love Cumbia flow in, mixed in a pinch of Voodoo, reactivated some old Blues heroes, plus some Exotica - it never hurts. The great art now is to combine these elements, disparate on paper, in such a way that something unique and consistently exciting emerges. Voodoo Mambosis And Other Tropical Diseases is the best example of this! The cover, also designed by Jens-O-Matic, is a tribute to the seminal 84 compilation Rockabilly Psychosis and the Garage Disease!
