(Vampi Soul) 24 tracks

The Record Mart store, one of Latin New York's historic music landmarks, also served as home base for Montuno Records, a small but not insignificant indie label run by store owner Jesse Moskowitz in the seventies.

This collection gathers tasters from the Montuno catalog, encompassing danceable Afro-Antillean music from Nuyorican salsa to Haitian compas, from Latin jazz to traditional Cuban genres and various blends of funk, doo-wop and Brazilian sound.

Included are tracks by such key figures as Airto Moreira, Manny Oquendo y Libre, Son de La Loma, Totico y sus Rumberos, Lou Pérez.

With liner notes by Pablo Yglesias alisa DJ Bongohead and an interview with Jesse Moskowitz.
