Beautiful vinyl workshow of songs from the Shrine label, mostly made in Washington DC in 1965 and 1966. It took decades for British Northern Soul fans to realize the importance of the label. The lack of records was caused by Shrine releasing only a handful of fourteen planned singles before calling it quits. The vast majority of later releases were destroyed in a warehouse fire or simply deemed a commercial failure. The music captures the exuberance of soul music in its prime. The rhythms are pounding, the vocals soaring, the songs positively and cleverly composed and undeniably influenced by Motown. 14 choice tracks on black vinyl.
