Es war in den Siebzigern, als es Berry Gordy Jr, den Gründer des legendaren Motown Labels aus Detroit nach Westen zog und er in Los Angeles das Unterlabel Mowest mit Blick auf den Pazifik und die Charts gründete. 'our Lives..' ist die erste und einzige Compilation, die jemals von Mowest erschien; zusammengestellt und veröffentlicht von Light In The Attic im Jahre 2011: hier gesellt sich süße Soul, harter Funk und sogar eine Dosis Hippie Rock der Westküste. Während Motown sich auf die sowieso schon etablierten Künstler wie STEVIE WONDER, MARVIN GAYE, DIANA ROSS, SMOKEY ROBINSON, THE TEMPTATIONS und ihren neusten Charterfolg, die JACKSON FIVE, konzentrierten, bekamen die Mowest Acts nur wenig Aufmerksamkeit; Acts wie SYREETA, SISTERS LOVE und G.C. CAMERON gingen ein wenig unter. Die Hits der Newcomer ODYSSEY bis zu den Veteranen von FRANKIE VALLI & THE FOUR SEASONS ließen auf sich warten, so dass das Unterlabel 1973 die Segel strich. Die COMMODORES, THELMA HOUSTON und CAMERON machten auf Motown weiter; das Repertoire von Mowest verstaubte in den Archieben. 'Our Lives Are Shaped By What We Love' bereitet nun 16 Tracks (CD, 2LP) wieder auf, die von den Originalbändern von Dave Cooley neu gemastert wurden.
