(2013/Stompertime) 35 tracks 1958-60 (78:38) with 20 page booklet.
 In the history of Rock'n'Roll, Vaden records has achieved near legeandary status. Based in Trumnn, Arkansas, Vaden started out as a Gospel Music Company run by Arlen Vaden and his wife Jackie. By 1958, Arlen had worked out that there might be a little gold in Rock'n'Roll and produced a steady stream of classic 45's by artists such as Teddy Reddell, Larry Donn, Bobby Brown, Joyce Green and Bobby Lee Trammell. Classics proued outsuch as 'Honey Bun' by Larry Donn, 'Black Cadillac' by Joyce Green, 'Down at Big Mary's House' by Bobby Brown, 'Hi Ho Silver' by Bobby Lee Trammell and 'Knocking on the Backside/Judy/Gold Dust' by Teddy Redell.
The nearest Vaden came to a hit was when Atlantic picked up on 'Judy' licensed it from Arlen and sold 40,000 copies. Not enough for a big hit, but Elvis Presley heard it, liked it and recorded it ensuring Tedd's pension!
Arlen tried his luck also with some nice hillbilly from Vena Twonsend and fine bluegrass from Ray Baker, but, by 1961, he returned to the relative security of Gospel music leaving behind a selection of roking classics, all of which are featured here.
