Soul Jazz Records' Down Beat Special is a rollercoaster ride of greatest hits handpicked from the mighty vaults of what is undoubtedly Jamaica's finest record label and reggae music's seminal powerhouse.

Originally released as a one-off pressed, limited edition (and long deleted) 7" box set, this reissue has been completely remastered and expanded to include 18 super rare and killer tracks from the Studio One empire.

Featuring the Skatalites, Jackie Mittoo, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Horace Andy, Alton Ellis, Lone Ranger and many more, the album offers rare and classic tracks throughout. Newly commissioned sleevenotes by Noel Hawks (History of the Jamaican Recording Industry) provide historical and musical analysis of each track, label scans and much more to complement this fantastic collection.
