Schlager-Medaillons – Volume 16: Die ersten Hitparaden 1951–1955 takes a nostalgic look back at German popular music in the early 1950s. This two-CD collection features 40 recordings by many of the era's best-known singers and entertainers, including Caterina Valente, Peter Alexander, Vico Torriani, Gerhard Wendland, Fred Bertelmann, René Carol, Bibi Johns, Fred Rauch, Friedel Hensch & Die Cyprys and Heinz Erhardt. The selection includes memorable songs such as “Ganz Paris träumt von der Liebe”, “Das machen nur die Beine von Dolores”, “Du schwarzer Zigeuner”, “Mona Lisa”, “Sarina”, “Bimbo”, “Am Strande von Havanna”, “Holdrio, liebes Echo” and “Blauer Tango”. Alongside popular Schlager favourites, the programme also offers entertaining and less familiar recordings from the period. The edition comes with two CDs and a 24-page booklet, making it an appealing collection for fans of vintage German Schlager and collectors interested in the music of the early post-war years.
