(2004 'Louisiana Red Hot') (63:38/13) Das Material - abgesehen von seinen eigenen Songs - könnte auch von einer 1970er Bluesscheibe aus England stammen. Songs von u.a. Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon und Peter Green. Gänzlich ungewöhnlich und faszinierend ist allerdings die Interpretation. Kein Rock, kein Countryblues, vielmehr eine Mischung aus afrikanischen Rhythmen und hypnotischen Gitarrenfiguren und Grooves. Das Album erreicht nicht die Intensität von Otis Taylors CDs. Spannend ist's allemal / Reading the track list you might expect a British blues rock record from the late '60s. Besides a couple of originals you'll read composer's names like Willie Dixon, Peter Green, Bob Dylan and Robert Johnson. Unexpected is the sound of this recording. Tobey's comining African rhythms with down home blues and hypnotic guitar grooves. Exciting.
