A deluxe CD/blue-ray box set celebrating the 50th anniversary of Thin Lizzy's third studio album "Vagabonds of the Western World" contains rarities never heard before.

The album was originally released in 1973. It was the band's last album with original guitarist Eric Bell and the first to feature artwork by Jim Fitzpatrick.

The classic album was mixed in Dolby Atmos for the first time and includes the essential "Whiskey In The Jar". To celebrate the album's golden anniversary, the deluxe CD set includes rarities, radio sessions, unreleased music, rare photos, extensive notes by Mark Blake.

"Thin Lizzy"

Thin Lizzy
Die Irische Heavy-Blues-Rockgruppe hatte ihren größten und bis jetzt einzigen Hit 1973. Damals sangen sie das volks-liedhafte „Whisky in the Jar" neu arran-giert als Heavy-Rock. Eigentlich hatten sie den Song gar nicht aufnehmen wollen, sie spielten das Lied nur so zum Aufwärmen im Plattenstudio und merkten erst nach-her, daß die Bandmaschinen schon mit-gelaufen waren. Gegen den Willen der Gruppe brachte die Plattenfirma das Lied auf den Markt.

Gegründet wurden Thin Lizzy Ende 1969 von Bassist und Sänger Phil Lynott (geboren 29. 8.1951 in Dublin). Mitspieler waren damals Schlagzeuger Brian Downey und Gitarrist Eric Be11.1974 kam es zu Querelen, Bell stieg aus. Lynott suchte neue Leute, hatte mit ihnen aber Pech. Teilweise blieben sie nur wenige Monate, so auch der in Deutschland geborene Andy Gee. Manche stiegen mitten in einer Plattenaufnahme aus, andere während einer Tournee — Thin Lizzy schienen am Ende.

Seit August treten Thin Lizzy als Quartett auf. Mitspieler sind Sologitarrist Brian Robertson (geboren 12. 9.1956 in Glarkston), Gitarrist VVil-liam Scott Gorham (geboren 17. 3.1951 in Santa Monica/USA) und Schlagzeuger Brian Downey (geboren 27.1.1952 in Dublin). In dieser Besetzung entstand auch die vierte und bisher letzte LP: „Night life".
