The Tedeschi Trucks Band is an 11-piece ensemble consisting of guitarist and singer Susan Tedeschi and guitarist Derek Trucks, known for their unique blend of rock, blues, gospel, soul, and Americana. Their 2011 debut album, Revelator, won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Blues Album. Since then, they have released four more studio albums and three live albums, of which “Everybody's Talkin'” is their first.
The songs on “Everybody's Talkin'” were compiled from recordings made during three tour dates in October 2011 and include tracks from their debut album that have been rearranged, expanded, and extended in true jam band fashion. However, they never seem to resort to clichés; guitar prodigy Derek Trucks introduces the band's hit “Midnight in Harlem” with an Indian raga played as a slide guitar solo, to name just one example. Stevie Wonder's “Uptight” also showcases their love of soul and jazz. In short, as one critic aptly put it, “Everybody's Talkin' is what every live album should be: an accurate, exciting reflection of a hot band playing at full throttle.”
