Slade were founded in 1966. But it was their ascent into the emerging glam-rock period that gave the quartet its decisive impetus. Over a period of six peak years, Slade delivered a breathtaking series of more than 15 top 20 singles, some of which were number one. Their climax was short-lived, but Slade left a lasting legacy that can still be felt today. Even big bands covered their single hits.
