Neil Sedaka passed away on February 27, 2026, at the age of 86. With him, the music world loses one of the last great craftsmen of 20th-century popular music – a classically trained pianist, a precise composer, and a singer whose work shaped American pop for decades.

Sedaka was not a manufactured star. Educated at the Juilliard School in New York, he mastered harmony, structure, and discipline before stepping into the world of rock ’n’ roll. Together with his longtime collaborator Howard Greenfield, he became one of the defining writers of the Brill Building era, creating enduring hits such as Oh!
