Savoy Brown (originally Savoy Brown Blues Band) was an English blues rock band formed in Battersea, southwest London, in 1965. Savoy Brown belonged to the blues rock movement of the late 1960s and had success especially in the United States, where they promoted their albums through continuous tours. Founder, guitarist and main composer Kim Simmonds was the only constant member of the band from its formation in 1965 until his death in 2022. In the late 1970s, Simmonds organized the band with vocalist Ralph Morman, formerly of the Joe Perry Project, drummer Keith Boyce and guitarist Barry Paul of the Heavy Metal Kids, and bassist John Humphrey. With this lineup, they recorded the 1981 album Rock 'N' Roll Warriors, which gave Savoy Brown its biggest success since the mid-1970s. The single "Run to Me," a cover version of a song originally recorded by Smokie, became Savoy's best-selling single in the United States, reaching #68 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of October 31, 1981.

"Savoy Brown"

English blues group with a constantly changing line-up. Savoy Brown was founded in 1967 by guitarist and singer Kim Simmonds, guitarist Mike Stone, bassist Ray Chappell, singer Brice Portius and drummer Leo Mannings. The only one who never left the group and led them across all the cliffs and kept trying to move on with new people was Kim Simmonds.

In 1967 the first LP "Shake Down' was released. In 1969 the group tried to bring a fuller sound with horns and from 1970 they turned more to rock. The group became particularly well known in America. There they are considered one of the best blues groups in the world. Kim Simmonds (born 6.12.1947 in Newport) are almost unknown in their English homeland.two-year-old singer Chris Youlden joined the group and made a good name for himself during this time. Former chicken shack boss Stan Webb played for six months with Savoy Brown (1974). He was one of about 50 musicians who appeared in this band until autumn 1975 and disappeared again.
