The wait is over
The world has been waiting 18 years for this! With "Hackney Diamonds", the Rolling Stones are releasing their first studio album with completely new original songs since 2005.

The eagerly awaited album will contain twelve brand new tracks, all written by the Jagger/Richards duo. A short snippet of the first single "Angry" has already been played online on a dedicated website.

The single and album were produced by Grammy award-winning producer Andrew Watt (Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Miley Cyrus). Together with long-time Stones producer Don Was, he is responsible for the sound of "Hackney Diamonds".

The album contains the last recordings of the legendary Charlie Watts, who sat behind the drums with the Rolling Stones from 1963 until his death in 2021. His successor Steve Jordan is known from Keith Richards' solo albums, among other things. This is the first album he has worked on for the band.

Incidentally, "Hackney Diamonds" is the name given to the shards of glass that lie on the street in the notorious London borough of Hackney after robberies. The diamonds could of course also be a reference to the Rolling Stones' 60th anniversary last year.

But "Hackney Diamonds" will convince us that there is no sign of the Rolling Stones getting tired of old age. The rock album of the year!

The video for the first single, Angry, starring Sidney Sweeney, was directed by François Rousselet. The original artwork for Hackney Diamonds was designed by digital animator Paulina Almira and featured appearances by Charlie Watts, who passed away in 2021, on the seventh track 'Mess It Up' and the eighth track 'Live by the Sword'. The eleventh track 'Sweet Sounds of Heaven' features Lady Gaga (vocals) and Stevie Wonder (keyboards and piano). Paul McCartney on bass on 'Bite My Head Off' and Elton John on piano on 'Get Close' and 'Live By The Sword' respectively.

The Rolling Stones came shortly after the Beatles, although they had been around for some time. They always stayed in second place behind the Beatles, the well-behaved, well-behaved boys next door, as their exact counterparts. They were always controversial. Scandals pave their way. Drug and excesses, wild fights and legendary orgies characterize Mick Jagger, Keith Richard, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman - to some extent also Mick Taylor, who took his place after the death of Brian Jones and only recently retired.

Musically, the Rolling Stones come from the blues and a little bit from jazz, but they added rock elements early on. Their music has always been rough and hard. But the Rolling Stones never became as style-blind as the Beatles were, on the contrary, they let themselves be influenced by the boys. When they turned the pop world upside down with their soft number "Yesterday", the Rolling Stones followed suit in a flash. When the Beatles said "All You Need Is Love', Mick Jagger sang sweetly in the ear of his fans "We love You'.

After the Beatles split up, the Rolling Stones finally took control of the rock paradise. In 1975 the Rolling Stones embarked on their eighth tour of the USA - the first since 1972 - starting in Baton Rouge, passing Jacksonville on August 2 and continuing to Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, where the mammoth tour ended in Caracas on August 31. 95% of the available tickets (1.5 million) were sold in 8 hours.
