The deepest and most complete look yet at Charlie Rich's earliest recordings for the legendary Sun label reveals a startling talent only hinted in his 'Greatest Hits' collections. For the first time, it's all here: from rockabilly to blues, from country to boogie woogie, from pop to jazz. More than 90 recordings, many previously unissued or unreleased in stereo, with choral overdubs stripped away to reveal the staggering power of Rich's vocals and musicianship. It contains a book with biography and musical commentary by Hank Davis, along with rare and previously unpublished photos.
CD-1 is all the Phillips International singles and LP songs, many newly available in stereo. Titles include Rich classics like Lonely Weekends, Who Will The Next Fool Be, Sittin' And Thinkin', Break Up, and his rare Sun single issued as Bobby Sheridan.
CD-2 has more than 30 songs that weren't originally issued, as well as alternate takes. These include Don't Put No Headstone On My Grave, You Made A Hit, There Won't Be Any More, etc..
CD-3 has midnight demo's, including songs like Juicehead Baby, Charlie's Boogie, It Hurt Me So, Right Behind You Baby, Thanks A Lot, Yes Ma'am, Graveyardville, etc.. A dream package.

Amerikanischer Country- & Western-Sänger. Studierte an der Universität von Arkansas Musik und gründete die Gruppe „The Velvetones'. Musikalisch brachte Charlie Rich Rhythm & Blues und war so erfolgreich, daß er bald seine eigene, wöchentlich ausgestrahlte TV-Show bekam. Dann folgte der Wechsel zum Country & Western, den Charlie Rich jedoch nicht in reiner Form brachte, sondern ständig mit Rhythm & Blues, Gospel- und Rockelementen anreicherte. ln Amerika schon seit Jahren ein Topstar der Countryszene, schaffte er 1973 fast sensationell mit dem Song „Behind closed Doors' auch in Europa einen Millionenhit. Ein Jahr lang standen die englischen Fans kopf.
1974 war das Charlie-Rich-Jahr in England: 7 Singles wurden veröffentlicht, alle kamen in die Hitparaden, 5 LPs wurden auf den Markt geworfen - es war wie ein Schluß- oder Ausverkauf. Noch nie hatte eine Plattenfirma die Nachfrage nach einem Sänger so konsequent genutzt und den Markt gefüllt. Als hätte man es geahnt: 1975 war alles schon wieder wie ein Spuk vorbei. Einen Charlie Rich schien es nie gegeben zu haben. In Amerika wurde er mit dem Grammy als einer der besten Country- & Western-Sänger ausgezeichnet.
