This Finnish band was formed in 2020 and consists of Ria Korhola (vocals and guitar), Timo Kalijärvi (lead guitar), Jussi Huhtakangas (pedal steel), Jani Ahtiainen (drums) and Lasse Sirkko (bass).
Ria and the Hi-Binder are a honky-tonk band inspired by the sound of the early/mid-sixties. The A-side is a cover of Wanda Jackson's Memory Mountain. Of course Wanda's original was great, but a bit overproduced with choir and violins. Ria's version is simpler, but also rockier, led by her confident voice, ideally supported by the steel, which together with the piano drives the song forward.
For the B-side, they adapt Bill Browning's Sinful Woman into Sinful Man. Again, the singer feels very comfortable while Huhtakangas and Kalijärvi exchange hot licks, supported by an impressive rhythm section.
