Susan Raye enjoyed great popularity in the early and mid-1970s with seven Top 10 and 19 Top 40 country hits. Particularly noteworthy is the song “L.A. International Airport,” which was an international crossover pop hit in 1971. Other outstanding tracks include “Pitty, Pitty, Patter” and “Willy Jones.” Raye was a protégé of country singer Buck Owens, who made her one of the main stars of the television series Hee-Haw.
