This will be the spookiest spoken word record you've ever heard. We're not joking... and neither is Vincent Price. The star of horror classics like House of Wax, The Abominable Dr. Phibes and Theatre of Blood (and, of course, the narrator of Michael Jackson's Thriller video ) can barely hide his glee as he leads his audience through a vivid and occasionally gruesome history lesson on witchcraft from the Bible to the Middle Ages, the Spanish Inquisition and Nazi Germany. Accompanied by occasional eerie, abstract electronic music, Price's uncanny satisfaction is heightened when he introduces the dark arts with tracks such as “How to Make a Pact with the Devil” and “Curses, Spells, Charms”. Of course, it's all just a joke... or is it? The mysterious author of the script, a certain Terry d'Oberoff, has only one other name: as the “mascot” of a band from the early 70s called... wait for it... Black Magic.

Released in 1969, this double LP has long been coveted by collectors of the curious and macabre, and for its first reissue in over 50 years, we're giving it the Real Gone treatment by reproducing the gatefold sleeve AND the full-size 8-page booklet that came with some copies. It's a combination history textbook and guide to witchcraft, with a cover featuring a particularly disturbing spell called “The Hand of Glory” using the severed, salted and dried hand of a convicted felon. We are releasing this unique album on clear vinyl with an orange “pumpkin” swirl.... Happy Halloween.
