From Elvis In Memphis is Elvis Presley's tenth studio album, released in 1969. The recording of the album marked Presley's definitive return to non-soundtrack albums after ending his film contract with Paramount Pictures. Motivated by his early influences in country, rhythm & blues, and the latest music trend in Memphis, gospel and soul, Presley decided to record these songs at American Sound Studio in Memphis. His comeback was complete when he scored a hit with the sublime In the Ghetto, which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100. The album can be considered one of his best recordings, with the support of some fantastic musicians. It is often ranked as one of the best white soul albums of all time.
