This is one of the rarest of tribute albums - produced by longtime fan Gail Davies (whose 1978 debut single was a cover of Pierce's “No Love Have I,” performed here by Pam Tillis), Davies assembled the cream of three generations of country traditionalists for this project: from twenty-somethings Mandy Barnett and Allison Moorer to veterans of Pierce's era like George Jones, Willie Nelson and Charley Pride.
But although Pierce's hits lasted into the early 70s, the best numbers here tend to be from his heyday in the 1950s.
