James Oliver Band Frantic (LP)

Surprisingly, it has already been four years since award-winning young Welshman James Oliver released his first album (“Twang”), but it comes as no surprise that he and his band have played an average of over 300 concerts a year since then, because he is undoubtedly a star!‍

Producer John Leckie heard about James and went to see the band play at the 100 Club in London. He offered to produce and mix his next recordings. By the time it was time to go to Berry Hill Studio, James already had ten new songs in the works, which he finished with the help of sound engineer John David. John also played bass and sang backing vocals on most of the recordings. The eleven tracks they recorded will be released worldwide on October 18, 2024, as an album titled “FRANTIC” in all formats.‍

A digital single of Rocking Your Life Away (think Dave Edmunds/Chuck Berry/ZZ Top) is scheduled for release on Friday, September 13, 2024.

‍James' rousing guitar playing comes into its own in this new collection, with the great Mark Kemlo on drums and John David and Patrick Farrell on bass, as well as Richard Dunn on organ on some tracks.‍

Micky Gee, another Welsh guitar master, accompanies them on Chuck Berry's “No Particular Place To Go,” but otherwise all songs were written by James and John David.‍

“Frantic” is another big step forward for James Oliver, who is emerging as one of the most exciting new guitarists in the world.
