Nana Mouskouri is one of the most successful artists of all time. In her fifty-year career, she has sold more than 350 million records and has sung in over fifteen different languages.

This song collection focuses on the early phase of her career and was created with the collaboration of composers and producers Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis.

The Voice of Greece concentrates exclusively on recordings made during Nana's formative years in Athens. A quantity of beguiling early sides complement Manos Hadjidakis' breezy, eclectic score for the German film production, Greece. Dreamland of Desire, alongside selections from his "prayer-offering" to modern Greece, Lilacs Out of the Dead Land, and the Song cycle Epitaphios - the poet Yannis Ritsos' lament inspired by the death of a Thessaloniki tobacco-factory worker during a strike - set to music by Mikis Theodorakis and orchestrated by Hadjidakis. Profoundly moving, the Epitaphios sessions are still regarded to be amongst Nana's finest work.
