Palingsound (a term coined by Willem van Kooten, formerly known as radio DJ Joost den Draaijer) has been a household name in the Netherlands for over 50 years! From The Cats and BZN to Jan Smit and Nick and Simon, the term is widely known and whole generations have grown up with the harmonious music from the fishing village of Volendam.

The CD contains legendary songs by The Cats, George Baker, Maribelle, Piet Veerman, Next-One and of course BZN. Think, for example, of "Mooi Volendam", "One Way Wind", "Sailin' Home", "Una Paloma Blanca" and "Mon Amour". But lesser-known names such as Jen Rog, Everything, Maddog, Left Side and the music of more recent Volendam artists such as Jan Smit, Nick and Simon and the 3 Js are also represented with songs such as "Confusion in my mind", "Friends for life", "My Village" and "The Soldier"!
