Mina is probably the most successful Italian singer of all time with 25 top 1 albums in Italy since the early 60s.
The 'Tigress of Cremona' with her powerful, distinctive voice has long been an indispensable fixture on the Italian music scene and a national icon.

Her recordings for the Ri-Fi label, with spectacular vocals, great songs and breathtaking orchestrations, are among the best that came out of Italy in the mid 60s.

This compilation features a selection of highlights from her incomparable Ri-Fi catalog, such as 'Se Telefonando...', composed and orchestrated by the great Ennio Morricone.

Der Start der Italienerin Mina (Anna Maria Mazzini) ins deutsche Schlagergeschäft ist ein Volltreffer. Ihr Debüt Heißer Sand erreicht 1962 sofort die Spitze der Hitlisten. Bis 1964 veröffentlicht die Polydor deutsche Schlager mit Mina. In diesen zwei Jahren wird nur ein einziger Titel aus Minas italienischen Repertoire ins Deutsche übertragen: Hinter Wenn du an Wunder glaubst verbirgt sich ihr bis dahin größter Erfolg Il cielo in una stanza. Mit diesem Titel konnte sie sich 1960 elf Wochen auf Platz 1 der italienischen Hitlisten behaupten. Geschrieben hat den Titel ein gewisser Toang. Hinter diesem Komponisten-Pseudonym steht Gino Paoli. Auf ihn geht der heute gängige Begriff 'cantautore' (Sänger & Komponist in Personalunion) zurück. Paoli schreibt seit den 60ern Hits für sich und andere, darunter auch für Ornella Vanoni.

Minas Polydor-Jahre sind nur eine kleine Episode in ihrer 1958 begonnenen Karriere. Sie gilt als eine der bedeutensten Sängerinnen in Italien. Noch heute erreichen ihre Alben Jahr für Jahr vordere Plätze in den Hitlisten.
